It is very important to maintain your batteries correctly so as to ensure a good charge and long life. This is especially true if not using your radio / battery most days.

Please follow these charging tips to ensure your battery is kept in good health:

a) If left attached to a radio it is best to recharge the battery as soon as possible after use, but in any case no more than 7-days. Please re-charge every 7-days if stored un-used on the radio (we strongly recommend storing un-used batteries off the radio).

b) For batteries left in storage off the radio, we recommend a monthly multi-meter voltage check to decide if they need topping up. If voltage drops below 7.0V, batteries should be recharged. Typically it takes it takes 3 months for a battery to self discharge from 8.0V to 7.0V.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES

DO NOT:

  • Use a battery that is in any way damaged.

  • Discard of your battery in a fire or apply any direct heating source.

  • Dismantle or in any way damage your battery.

  • Carry charged batteries where the batteries contacts may be shorted by metal objects, e.g. in a pocket or bag etc.

YOU MUST:

  • Follow all Entel instructions with regards battery safety, care & operation.

  • Prior to charging or use, carefully dry wet batteries using a microfiber or lint free cloth.

  • Only use Entel chargers.

BATTERY CARE – DAY TO DAY USE

  • You must charge the battery before first use or within 3-months of receipt, whichever is soonest.

  • Recommended charging temperature is 10C to 40C.

  • Short term storage temperature range is -20C to +60C. Please note, these are the extremes, see long term storage temperature range below for ideal conditions.

  • When the battery is charged / stored attached to a radio:

o   The radio must be switched off during charging.

o   For DX & DT radios, re-charge prior to use, or within 30-days, whichever is soonest*

o   For DN radios, re-charge prior to use, or within 7-days, whichever is soonest*

* When not being used on a weekly basis, we strongly recommend storing the battery off the radio (see below).

Life:

  • Your Entel re-chargeable battery is a consumable & its life is affected by its operating environment & care.
