Firmware updates are applied ‘over the air’ (OTA) and therefore an internet connection is required before new firmware can be downloaded. If the radio firmware pre-dates 0.2.18, new SIM’s will not work until the radio has been updated. Therefore, the firmware update must be downloaded and applied over a WiFi connection prior to the SIM being fitted.

DN radios have a pre-configured WiFi network and will connect to a WiFI hotspot with the following credentials:
SSID: EntelTest
Password: EntelTest123!

Please contact Entel with radio serial numbers that require updating, as updates are not sent automatically.

Important. Update the firmware before fitting a new SIM. If already fitted, make sure you perform a cold boot (Step-8) after the update.

Please follow the steps below to update FW (or for other OTA’s) over a WiFi hotspot.

  1. Set up a WiFi hotspot from a phone or other device with mobile data, with the credentials shown in the info panel above.

  2. On the DN radio, enable WiFi - main menu/settings/WiFi/Enable. Please make sure the battery has enough charge to complete the update process.

  3. When connected, the WiFi icon will be displayed in the top left of the screen.

  4. Check for updates - main menu/about/check updates.

  5. If there is new firmware available, the radio will proceed to download and install the new firmware.

  6. This process may take up to 15 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your internet connection. Please do not switch the radio off until the update has completed - the radio may re-boot several times during this process.

  7. When completed, check the firmware version is correct. Double press the dot/info button- the firmware version is displayed on the first line.

  8. Please perform a ‘cold’ boot' after updating the firmware - i.e. switch off, remove and replace the battery, then turn the radio back on.
